The 7-foot-1 Tisdale was passed over in this year’s NBA draft and had signed a contract to play in a German professional league before the deal was voided in August because the team claimed Tisdale had a back injury. Tisdale said he had no problems with his back.
Tisdale was drafted in November by the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League, the NBA’s official minor league. He had played four games with the Red Claws, averaging 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
Tisdale will be joined at 76ers training camp by star player and Lanphier High grad Andre Iguodala. The 76ers are coached by Doug Collins, a star player at Illinois State and former coach of the Chicago Bulls.
